Château Saint Ulrich, Alsace.
>>14842171Alsace is very comfy, especially in winter, nothing like getting a warm wine or cider with spices in a Christmas market. If you go there, my off the beaten path pick would be Ribeauvillé. And go see the trippiest painting you'll ever see (right up there with Hieronymus Bosch) in Colmar, the immense rétable of Issenheim. An elevating experience.
Thanks for the Lapland comfyness! I wish I could see the hauntingly beautiful aurora borealis IRL, every single video I've seen is accelerated, it's frustrating.
>>14842159My grandparents lived for a time in a hamlet lost in the Cévennes mountain range. They had a fireplace. The time I spent there, both summer and winter, were among the comfiest times of my life. I think what you said applies to castles and palaces and other large spaces. Getting groceries was a curse however, but the hamlet had a population of 20 so most villages are better off.
