As far as we know though, there's no true "Gay Gene", but in conception and development, all tetrapods (including us) start as female and later become male. We recognize in various tetrapods that the levels of androgen and the sizes of gonads relates to if we observe homosexual behaviors. Sexuality, Gender, orientation, all of these are social constructs. If you observe the natural world, you'll notice oddities like 10% of Rams are gay and absolutely refuse to have sex with ewes. Are these just always genetic dead ends? Or is there some utility for the species there?
