look at picrel, let's say that the red dot is north
i think we can both agree that West is always perpendicular to North like in picrel
now, as you travel West for example, there is a point where needle on the compass will not point to North anymore and so you will correct it, which makes West perpendicular to North again - think that the blue line is just rotating around the circle
you can keep doing that the whole way around
