Your judgement about universalism is also wrong. For example, an universalist worldview like Christianity has it could not be supressed and brainwashed out by the Roman Empire. And Spain could not retain its strict conservative culture after the Franco regime was gone. Turns out there is more effort required than to just let the “instincts play out” if you want to guide the humanity to the right way, which is something that the Christians for example understood very well and was the factor behind their universal success
