The Templar were Hermeticists/Gnostics. Baphomet is an encoded reference to Sophia. They were absolutely heretical by Christcuck standards since they were attempting to revive the ancient traditions of Europe based on their studies of mystery schools originating in Egypt, but they weren't Satanists.
