>>21109379Yeah, it is weird to sometimes lurk back. I seldomly look at old forums from the mid-2000s and deeply miss how we used to be as a culture. People were actually talking about the game/topic without it immediately derailing into people yelling about issues related to the synthetically produced culture war.
What younger generations also tend to forget is that the Internet felt like a new frontier. Before the Internet, you weren't exposed to all this crazy shit (crazy lolcows/every type of porn imaginable/image macros/etc.) but you were limited by what was on the television or in magazines so browsing the web truly felt like entering a new world with a seperate culture from real life - complete with its own language (leet speak, memes,etc.) and social norms. People behaved like normal people in real life (due to no tiktok/social media/etc.) and then behaved completely differently online.
