PS. Achilles is a much better example of the type of hero you're looking to illustrate. Unlike Hercules, he actually chooses the heroic but tragic path, and becomes a Nietzschean uber-barbarian who looks down upon all other men and their laws and customs as inferior to him (as he is possessed by Ares).
