the algorithm that rules your life and your thoughts now seeks to maximise the time you spend on it by grabbing your attention in the most vile ways, through click bait, drama, constant conflict, sensationalism, fear and anger. It is poison for the soul. Imagine the optimism and aesthetic of the 90s, watch any old TV advertisment or pick up an old issue of National geographic and it soothes the soul. Open a book and you feel like your worries melt away. Quite unlike the never ending scroll, the never ending influx of useless information that makes you feel empty inside. Social Media is the McDonald’s for entertainment and thought. And it it feeds you things that are bad for you just to make money off of you. We need to quit social media if we want to be fulfilled again.
