>>19820376Nikki laughs. Did she just call Carmody a ‘mouthy rustic cow’? God that was good. She liked this guard already. “Oh yes that match was one of my favourites, I really wanted to get my hands on that bitch, I’m sure you know the feeling.”
“Elyssa, hmm? Nice name.” Nikki however, had never heard of the company owned by Elyssa’s father. Was it a big one she’d be expected to be familiar with? She wasn’t sure, so she did what she’s been doing from the moment she started talking to Elyssa and put on an act. “Oh, Laurentine Fine Goods and Exports Company… yes, my sister Cassie, she owns a nightclub and she stores stuff in a bunch of warehouses. She talks about getting stuff shipped in and out by your dad’s company to store in those warehouse *all* the time!”
It takes all the restraint Nikki can muster not to smile widely as Elyssa confirms she can get her into the Royal Archives. But there is the small matter of her suspicion regarding Nikki’s true motives. As they walk, Nikki ponders how best to approach it. Elyssa clearly knew she wasn’t being entirely honest about what she was after before. Telling the truth might be the best option. So as the two walk, Nikki comes clean.
“A few weeks ago I had this weird dream, and long story short it led to me encountering a… demon. And that demon kept talking to me like we were connected in some way, said I have a bunch of family I don’t know, and that we’re all her daughters. Then she told me that if I found a way to have lucid dreams, she could contact me again.”
Nikki sighs. “But I mean, I’m a human. I don’t have horns or anything.” She thinks of Coco. “Though… I guess there’s things about me that are weird, and so I want to get into the Royal Archives because I figure a place like that in The Kingdom would have all the information I need. If records of that demon contacting others exist, maybe I’d be able to find out more about her and if she’s telling the truth, or if I’m in danger from her.”
