i think in the purest sense of the term, olive oil might count as vegetable oil but when it comes to colloquial usage and ingredient labels, vegetable oil is mainly canola oil, sunflower oil and palm oil. i don't think people whining about vegetable oils are shitting on olive oil and avocado oil. and nobody would call olive oil a vegetable oil on their products label
