“Gemma is that you? It’s so great to hear from you,” Nikki gasps. “I didn’t come here looking for way to communicate with Jen, the spirit lantern really sorted that out nicely. We were hanging out just last night!”
Gemma’s warning that demons aren’t to be trusted resonates in Nikki’s mind. “I wasn’t looking to make a deal with one or anything, I just…” Nikki hesitates. Repeating what she foolishly told Elyssa on the way to the archives seems like a bad idea. Even Gemma, the one person here she could rely on to be sympathetic to her thinks demons can’t be trusted.
But what little Nikki managed to discover before being interrupted, has already convinced her that whether they can be trusted or not, the particular demon she encountered was telling the truth. She needed that book. She needed to learn about that woman who sounded so much like herself.
After Valari addresses The Queen, Nikki steps forward. “Look, I’m sorry if I caused any problems ok? But all I need is that one book I was looking at when you came. That’s all. It’s not such a big deal, right?”
