I had some old nokia phone that I used primarily as an mp3 player and for receiving calls, I could buy a $2 prepaid SIM card that would last 1 year before expiration and would just buy a new SIM each year. If I needed to call somebody which was once every few months, I'd use a payphone outside.
I miss living like that, so comfy and disconnected from the normieverse but unfortunately, nobody calls anymore, it's all text now so you need to have an onscreen keyboard and internet connection 24/7 now. Also after COVID you can't even order a meal without QR
Payphones are basically just for drug deals and prostitution now
