Missile? However, not seeing it until directly above the city is curious. Are there stealth ones which only become visible once a certain mix of, say, concentrated emissions from cars (it was too early for massive road traffic) or some other agent makes stealth impossible? Perhaps forward-released from the missle itself, simply exhausting or extinguishing itself before impact?
