Sometimes we go a few hours or a few days without supply due to accidents or upgrades in infrastructure, or even due to water rationing. These reservoirs solve the problem because the house will have a buffer for a few days. My home has a big buffer which lasts for about 7 days in the event of zero water coming from the street.
