I read City of God and I found Augustine's criticisms of the Roman pagan priests very interesting. He accuses them of believing one doctrine and preaching to the public another. It's very similar to masonic and occult ideas of a secret doctrine for the elect because the "vulgar" could never understand it. The Bible denounces witchcraft and also has allot of interesting references to secret societies. I think there's a connection between the two. A witch is someone who hides their true beliefs and intentions and lies habitually to achieve ulterior motives, and they organize. A news anchor pushing a bullshit story is a witch. A university researcher misrepresenting facts so a study says what they want it to say is a witch. A new age kook promising to heal cancer with crystals and meditation is a witch. They're everywhere.
