I got really into that too. Then when I got a little older I realised how stupid and useless it was and that i did it just to fit in with a group and to belong to something because I had nothing else going on.
They're just doing it to fill the hole, to make it seem like they belong and doing something productive and to distract themselves from the fact that their lives are empty and they're not doing anything valuable. Instead of fixing and improving their lives they choose to bury themselves in this.
