>>9345262>well if that's what he wants, then that's what he wants.i do take a bit of issue with pissing away money - that's by proxy reducing his influence in the world, and that of his kids and the whole family. that's not even personal greed talking because it'd have remained for his kids, i'm too far to have personally benefited from his wealth. but adopting his mindset is how money and power falls into the hands of the wrong people
secondly people in the family talk about him like he did the noble and righteous thing, and that we should look up to that. that's mostly evangelical values talking, it's almost a modern version of self-flagellation. but it's a value system that makes people small and insignificant
the worst part is they act like he's well-read despite reading only pulp fiction (think the books you can buy out of an airport terminal, the ones with a rose and a gun on the cover or something with a title like "The Alpha Conspiracy"). like the parallel music conversation it's an attempt to prop up their mediocrity by putting poor examples on par with the entire subject, and especially the greatest examples
the self-interest of boomers has been brought up many times but i am not so forgiving. people have agency over their own decisions and even if it was difficult to find the right ideas it is still evidence of a weak will to refuse or fail, because with all the lacks their time had they also had many freedoms that we lack
