>>12925740>>12925744>>12925768>>12925791>>12925793The lego rocket ship and lego castle set are "98%" the same pieces. This analogy worked better 20 years ago... lego is fucking nuts now.
But the idea you need to get is that 98% of our genes are coding for functional proteins we all need. No surprise, the proteins necessary to be a warm blooded bipedal thinking creature that lives optimally between 20-40c are largely the same. Change 2% of the developmental regulatory pieces and you'll grow taller, with slightly different angles and lengths in bone structure, musculature, and brain development.
Now banana and tress similarities makes more sense too right? Because we both need the same proteins coded for to build cell membranes, sequestered nucluses, apoptotic pathways and atp pathways, and everything else that makes the eukaryotic cell tick. We've come a long way, but most of what it takes to make us were prerequisites for yeast. From there it's largely just been variations on a series of interesting themes.

>>12925809Yes. And bananas are 50% human. But what 50%? Basic cellular shit, like how you both use the same proteins to combine oxygen and sugar to bind phosphate links to store energy for later.
