Bant. How can we get more children to roam around outside on their own? It is very important for children to be able to have some autonomy at a young age, and yet as a culture we shelter them from strangers and always want to keep an eye on them. As a result, we have a bunch of mentally ill adolescents who don't know how to interact with their environment.
I won't even get into how we have made our cities inhospitable for children (and everyone else) by putting everyone into cars going up to 60 mph in urban settings. That's way more dangerous than any strangers they might interact with, I guarantee you. Cars and roads make it very hard to just let your children go outside and not see them for a day or two. There is nowhere for them to go.
How can we get more children to go outside, away from their parents, and interact with their environment and the strangers therein?
