>>20447560You can get more out of Civ V by getting into the multiplayer scene if that's your thing. Look up lekmod which adds a lot of civs and has MP balance changes, then join the nq group on steam for people who play with it. There will be a learning curve for the MP meta even if you have 1500 hours in singleplayer.
Overall I'd recommend EU4 over HOI4, but both are fun. HOI4 is fundamentally a wargame narrowly focused on WW2 so the focus is on military, with lots of detail and decision making in that domain, while the political and economic side are simple and abstracted. EU4 has a lot more "historical larp" potential, covers the entire early modern period, and has a lot more different types of campaigns you can do. It also has built up a ton of mechanics and systems over the past 10 years which may be overwhelming for a new player vs those of us who've played off and on since release, but you don't necessarily need to interact with all of them especially if starting with a strong nation.
