Streets, intersections, parking lots - so much precious city space wasted on storing cars and giving their unjustified size the place to move. Then there is their noise - a constant, white noise, which people don't even notice anymore until they leave the city and feel the relief. Then there is the unnecessary danger they pose, the danger to others, not to the one driving, mind you. With a scooter you can at worst just knock over someone and break his arm possibly, with cars people are being killed on pedestrian crossings all the time.
In the city I would trade cars for scooters - private or for rent, doesn't matter - at any moment.
