>>9902055sorta. we decided to use a variant to an optional rule that basically made it so whenever i cast some of my spells there was a chance for unintended side effects that range from things like my hair falling out to nuclear bombs. there's close to 300 individual effects with varying likelihood to happen, but not any much more likely than 1% chance. several of the effects have increased randomness for the specifics ie "you teleport to a different plane of existence, roll to find out what plane it is"
the initial problem was that i hit the effect that teleported me to another plane of existence that was basically just massive caves with extremely harsh winds and no food or drinkable water. in an attempt to get back i just started casting as many spells as i could to hope for another effect that could help me out. first i got an effect that changed my diet to be rocks instead of food, allowing me to actually survive for more than a day when i ran out of magic. then over the course of 20 or so rolls i ended up getting the effect that teleports me to a different plane again and ended up landing in one similar enough to the "regular" plane everyone else was on that i could find a sorcerer to send me back eventually
all that's moot now, though, since the campaign has ended prematurely
