the person i replied to is /pol/ and doesn't actively keep up with gay going ons at all. i'm bisexual and largely have a distaste for most aspects "gay culture" but keep up with it to enjoy ironically, so i share stuff i find particularly funny with him
having a pride parade is fine in my opinion though. the distinction is that a lot of people do legitimately struggle with their sexuality for whatever reasons be the external or internal, so i see pride parades less as being proud that you're gay and more as being proud that you've finished whatever journey to accept and be content with the fact that you're gay while potentially inspiring others to come to terms with their sexuality
that being said i think the whole month is horribly annoying and i wish i didn't have to hear about it at all
