>>19478481I do believe it evolved from British meat pies when french and british immigrants came over in the 1700s but Tourtière is far superior nowadays. We use any type of meat for the filling it can be fish, rabbit, moose, beef, pork, anything really. It was originally made using passenger pigeon hence the Tourte in the name. Shepard's pie is very close though second in terms of meat pies imo.
