Compare this typical nip classroom with western kids. They are not allowed to wear makeup, they haven't done any surgery. The whole trope of "school idols" comes from the fact that it's quite rare to find decently attractive schoolgirls. Having a flatter face gives you a much narrower margin of attractiveness.
