>>16611956In some climates it's good. In some, it's bad. Nobles didn't even like to stay in fortresses beyond the really wild times of the early middle ages. They had country houses and city houses and apartments and stuff, half-timbered usually. There are many surviving houses built in this type which pre-date Christianity and in fact many are Runenhausen where the timbers spell out runes. Some have substantial stone foundations or entire first floors too. And could be easily classed as pagan.
