> Went to Paris on a school trip back in the day> Louvre> Mona Lisa> They have it roped off, a good 20 or 30 feet away> Huge crowd reaching over the barriers trying to snap a picture as close as possible> Like an extra foot or two makes a difference> Not a huge art fan> I'll just go up to the side, snap a pic to say I saw it, then leave> Security guard on either side> Both deadpan, sunken faces> No crowds by them because the angle makes it barely visible> Dont care, gonna snap one there anyways> Walk up, security guard is a QT 3.14 blond girl> I give her a small nod before going to take picture> She notices my Canadian tag on my backpack> Immediately perks up> "Uoh, you are Canadien, no?"> cute AF French accent> "I am indeed"> "Would you like a good picture?"> "...sure?"> she unhooks the rope barrier, says something in French to the other guard> All I understand is "Canadien" out of the whole thing> Other guard also perks up> Smiles a really genuine smile> They let me behind the ropes> I stand directly in front of the Mona Lisa, blocking everyone else's shots> I could reach out and touch the glass I'm so close> Huh. Neat> Snap a few pics> Thanked the guards profusely while everyone else ranted about it being unfair> Got pictures with the guards too> FeelsGoodMan> inb4 post the picturesThis was 3 or 4 phones ago, and as I said, I'm not an art fan, so it wasn't that important to me to keep. It's probably buried somewhere.
