So, you may be thinking about the typical smart definition, maybe being well read and educated, but they may be thinking other way, maybe they want some socially smart guy, so he will be skillful on social interactions. Maybe she is thinking about a crafty person who is into DIY and trades...
so, first of all you have to see what they call "smart" or "intelligent".
and second, how MUCH of it do they want.
a woman may want a socially skilful boyfriend, but not so much she can't put a leash on him on social interactions.
maybe they want a well readen and educated person, BUT no more than her, otherwise she'll be the dumb one and she will have no control of the relationship.
keep this on mind when they tell you that "I like intelligent men" bullshit.
