Eh, I am no good at Russian, I can understand most things when it comes to reading some basic text desu, I mean, not some ornamental one, written in usual day-to-day Russian, but I cannot really speak much yet, understanding what Russians say is not really much greater than it was before I even knew Cyrillics too desu. I am still at the point where it would be easier for you to understand if I spoke Polish that if I tried to speak Russian desu.
>>2734067First thing would be probably to learn Cyrillics. I don't really remember how I was taught basics of Russian at high school, I remember that I got to know the Russian alphabet in a month or so desu, not much more though.
Learning it would be harder than it was for me though, as I can often just read/hear the word and find out that we use the exact same one in Polish, that's why reading is much easier than speaking for me desu. We also have pretty similliar pronounciations, grammar rules etc. etc. All slavic languages are pretty young, we splitted relatively recently, like a thousand years ago or so desu.
I think I'd start with alphabet for sure and additionally pronounciation of those letters you don't have in French, I think you have some, I am not sure, I've never been studying French desu.
