Kant has a particular brand of idealism called transcendental idealism. Idealism gave birth to the post-modernist ideology that openly denies the existence of objective reality, instead of saying that "reality" only exists in the mind of individuals. This is a deconstructionist ideology, the one the bible warned us about, specifically with the role of Satan in paradise lost and the explanation of evil in Dante's Inferno. It also appeals to materialism, which essentially says that nothing has "souls" or "meaning", and everything in the universe is just made of matter, nothing else.
If you look at the Daoist symbol of ying-yang, you know that at the center of order is chaos. At the center of our enlightenment and existentialist self-determination order in the west there is brewing a deconstructionist and post-modernist ideology that is explicitly deconstructionist to what people consider "traditional values".
If you read Dantes inferno, it basically answers the question "What is the relationship between all the sins and evil?" which he lays out in the "layers of hell". The first layer, purgatory, is not necessarily for atheists but for people who cannot see beyond the material makeup of this universe. They cannot see the meaning. They cannot see souls. They are materialists.
