A counter-argument might be that any woman who doesn't care what kind of car you drive probably has very low self-esteem. A further counter-argument is that it's essentially scientifically proven that women are motivated more by a man's status than any other factor, and no one driving some old beater has any status.
I'd say you take any group of 100 extremely desirable females - I'm talking at least 9.5's personality and looks - and 0 of them will be dating a guy who drives a $500 beater. Maybe 1 of them will be dating a guy who drives a $5000 car. 3 or 4 of them might be dating guys driving a $20,000 car. And the other 95 of them will be with guys driving $50,000+ cars.
Why? I could answer that but I think you already know the answer.
Women care about what you drive because they care about status - yours and theirs. It's just a fact which you can choose to ignore while it simultaneously is dictating your dating pool whether you accept that it is or not.
