Buddhists believe in a similar figure to the Devil, Mara (whose name means death). He is a rebel prince / celestial being who has dominion over the Earth, and he wants to make sure all beings remain under his dominion. He tempted the Buddha (even with some of the same temptations of Christ, lol - he offered to make the Buddha the emperor of the world), and he's trying intensely (imo) to destroy whatever's good in your institution to keep you guys ensnared to him.
