>>19028160>>19027949Back in the locker room, Carmody stuffs the contract back into her own pack of stuff. She hears the shower running; it's Sola. She doesn't go in to join her; that'd be a little awkward, after she'd admitted an attraction to her and then they'd spent the past few days in their own world. Instead, she waits, and takes a deep breath.
Her elation starts to fade, as the rush of the meeting with Priscilla Divine leaves her. She'd come in here floating on a cloud, sure that she'd not only read the WWA World Champion by the book, but re-written the ending. Priscilla had put a lot of the table, and Carmody had taken something she hadn't even offered. But as the high of "turning on" for the meeting fades, Carmody feels a nervous tremor begin in her arms, as she considers the possibility that she's in over her head. WAY over her head. Had she made a terrible mistake?
No. That kind of thinking was for girls who were going back to Arkansas to wait tables.
But one thing was for sure - this was a high-risk, high-reward situation. It was the opportunity of a lifetime, but if played poorly, it very well could turn into the mistake of a life time.
She hears Sola come out of the shower and get at her locker, and so she approaches. She's pointedly looking down and to the side, to respect Sola's privacy as she gets dressed.
>"Holy SHIT that was..... something. How're you holding up, Sola?"Carmody ALMOST turns her head to make eye contact and study Sola's expression, but remembers at the last second, and keeps her eyes instead keenly focused on her locker.
>"I mean, in general, too. We haven't talked much lately. I know these last few days have been tough."
