>>14744427the limitations of the material on the ideal allow the ideal to accomplish things that cannot be accomplished without those limitations. Gnostics are eternal children and while very clever they exemplify the quality of being too clever for one's own good.
So the Gnostics rear their ugly head at the fall of every empire, for those seeking salvation from a hellish world. Initially, they were noteworthy for believing salvation lay in the accumulation of knowledge. They are consistently knocked down from that position by those who believe that brainy little faggots should have their heads smashed in.
So what's their cope?
Oh me, oh my, if not for this material plane I couldn't have my head smashed in. I'd go to an existence of pure ideal.
But that pure ideal created the material, and now it can't get rid of it. Even in the ideal, might always makes right. It's the most basic morality. And yet the Gnostics believe in salvation without morality.
I'll say it again, because it's important. Limitations can be good, because rules can be good. They're the foundation of the civilizations that give Gnostics the leeway to waste their lives on such autistic endeavors. Which grant them the respite from those who would just obliterate them from being so ridiculous. They seek an existence of pure ideal, but they never even consider what such an existence entails.
And it's a shame too, because their description of reality is one of those most close to the truth, and yet they cannot help but to miss the point entirely.
