There are some utility in having the engine not scream all the time. I dont mean lugging either
When its at the 4000rpm range I can accelerate 50%-100% throttle and engine brake 50%-1%
plus by not riding the redline im also making the car very stable and less prone to do undesirable things such as oversteer
