A lot of the 'digging' they supposedly do is fucking dumb as shit. Even when it comes to pedo scandals, you'd get a lot further digging into things like the Dennis Hastert bribery/blackmail scandal (which at least has some public records and court proceedings to get you started) than 'digging' into the shape of Tom Hanks's ankles.
