I mean thats quite historically accurate since those guards are clad in armor and bucket helmets. Even if they were wearing chainmail theres not much a sword can do against it. they're well protected in 99% of the areas you may swing a sword at
A mace however ignores armor and induces blunt force trauma therefore a perfect weapon for knocking out or perhaps giving several guards crippling or life ending braindamage
