Carmody's winter coat and evening dress had seemed more than sufficient when she came here, full of warmth and confidence. Now, the wind whips around her bare legs, through her hair and over her ears, and she shivers. She walks away from the mansion, designer pumps cutting through the snow and the slush on the ground, coat drawn tightly around herself, arms tightly hugging her chest.
It's not enough.
She gets to the nearest bus stop and checks the expected arrival time on the bus company's app on her phone. Four minutes, that's not so bad.
Actually, it's pretty bad. It's really cold outside.
When the bus arrives, she gratefully boards it and takes a seat in the corner.
