If you like fiction but arent into scifi i would heartily recommend hubt for red october and rainbow six by tom clancy.
If you like scifi the warhammer 40k novels are easy reading. Its just a violence and gore fest and isnt too hard to get into.
I liked the james S.A Corey novels that formed the basis for the TV show The Expanse. There is a little poz in there but its not overly promoted.
If you like fantasy i would recommend the wheel of time series (author was a southern nationalist), or any of terry pratchetts works for something a little easy going. Terry Pratchett was writing about wizards and witches long before JK Rowling became a meme.
