The personification of God is erroneous but not entirely incorrect, because God does have personality just as any individual conscious being.

The universe must learn as any being will do, and through learning possesses personality, bias, error, and judgement. This is why God is portrayed as an incredibly cruel and moody tyrant in the old testament, but later becomes a benevolent deity who truthfully regrets his massacres.
