Creepypasta culture died due to tripfags making the place unusable in the bad years where mods couldn't keep up with moderation, but more important was the fact that the original creepypasta fans were teenagers and they simply aged out of the scene and moved into off-site chats or partook serious writing.

Post creepypasta /x/ had something like the highest count of schizophrenics per capita of any board. something like a solid third of the board were unironic conspiracy theories and the Tulpa general. Then that people left for /pol/ during the elections.
