We are meant to communicate looking into each other's eyes, making gestures, changing our voices according to the message we are trying to convey... Chans are extremely limited in this regard. No relevant progress will ever be made in anonymous forums such as this one, the "best" thing 4chan can do is troll others, nothing productive is ever achieved.
Also, we are not meant to talk to many people ar once. Sometimes there are hundreds of people participating in a thread. Nothing organized and coherent can come out of hundreds of people talking at once, its all noise. This whole website is noise, nothing can be distinguished from all the noise being made here.
All of this is the result of the democratization of speech. Anyone can say anything they want here. That may seem good at first, but its not. Information needs to be curated and organized. I'd much rather hear a single person speaking or a podcast between two people.
