it's worse than that we'll never be mutiplanetary.
We will be perpetually stuck with pre-industrial technology. There may be another thousand Greek, persian, chink, empires. But we will never be able to recover the hydrocarbons we've already depleted. We couldn't even get solar/nuclear or any other meme alternative to work this time around. We will sooner take back to the trees than to space.
