It is my impression that lakes are playing a major role in choosing the location for a bunker. My guess is that lakes must have extensions that go further down in the ground. These can be drained which is comparably simpler to digging out the cavern.
There's two bunkers below Lake Constance in the border region of GER/CH/AUT. One in the eastern part of the lake, one in the western part.
Officially, the lake's maximum depth is 250m, which is half of what Google Maps is telling us.
