>>16031508>during the janitor applications, /bant/ was not an available option. It's been like that every time, I think. I figure that it just means that it's a pet board that a group of individuals like having control over, to keep it the way they like it to be. That is one hundred percent the case with one or two other boards here, so, it's not far-fetched at all. And that's a good thing, at least for this place, because the lenient moderation style it has is one of the great things about it.
Therefore it's the latter of what you said, yeah. It might be a bit of a shithole, but that's how the people in charge like having it be, and they don't want anybody new interfering with that. Basically, pet board. I believe it's okay this way. Definitely a good thing that batches of new jannies who could drastically alter the experience don't get brought into the picture, having so many of them going around and deleting what they personally dislike is a big problem the rest of the site has anyhow. Not saying that the approach of a group of people having the board as their pet doesn't pave the way for that exact same kind of abuse, but it has the chance of turning out alright still, while the alternative I think ultimately ends up being terrible.
A pretty good example is how [s4s] and this board is, in comparison. [s4s] is also a pet board, but the difference is that over there you'll get site-wide bans for not having the specific behaviour that the moderator group wants you to have. How they want the board to be is heavily enforced and they exile people out simply because they dislike that individual. So it just ends up being total garbage.
With /bant/, it works because the ones who have it as their pet board just don't care to engage in the same level of cuckery, they rather leave it be to it's own devices and interfere in a small way. There are a couple or so things that they like to do away with, sure, but overall the place is extremely lenient. Character limit.
