Half of them bizarrely aren't even in big migrant zones like Los Angeles but in semi-rural parts of Washington and Oregon. I actually worked with Mayan people twice and learned some Kaqchikel. The Mexican Mayans work in oil a lot here and the Guatemalan ones are mechanics and tradies pretty often. A lot of the non-skilled ones move to the pacific northwest because unlike California, you can actually afford a house on the $15 per hour farm labor jobs they have. I'm not sure why Central Americans flock to Los Angeles. It's much harder to thrive here unless you're already skilled or upper income.
