Now concerning Bowie's lyrics:
'Ormen' as a word is the plural of 'Orm' which means worm, grub, or maggot.
Also there is a wiki article on 'Ormen Lange' which apparently means 'long serpent' - so I suppose Ormen can mean serpent. The Long Serpent was a ship.
The Ormen Lange article talks about a Christian crusade across Norway and in the story king Olav tries to convert King Raud, King Raud rejects Christianity and is killed in a very graphic death involving a snake. King Olav takes King Raud's ship - Ormen Lange - the long serpent. In Olav's last battle he used the ship.
And a villa is basically a country home. Bowie had a country home in NY that he'd go to in the summer.
But what about this lyric:
"'at the center of it all - your eyes'. I can't really make sense of that, other than linking to sister Mary's Three Days of Darkness during the apocalypse.
I take this to be a direct comment to the listener, humanity as well. Which is possibly a reference to the the pineal gland... the 1st and 2nd ventricle - vaulted chamber, 3rd ventricle - solitary candle between the twin pillars of the mind, denoting a duality clearly depicted in the video and the creepy blog thevilforemen posted by Bowie or one of his constituents.
