I used to be very fascinated with space and I was really hoping that one day I would get the opportunity to go to Mars or some off-planet space colony. More recently though that idea has lost some of its lustre to me, since I probably wouldn't be able to ever go back to see the people I love.
Still, the prospect of ever settling on other planets, moons or even building our own deep space habitats will be very important in the future. I reckon it would solve a lot of our problems, but probably cause quite a few too. But it's probably quite a way off, and until that's possible it's much more pertinent to take care of what we have right now: Mother Earth.
