>>17110961>it's more likeif it were the combine left on earth then sure, but its just that you have no idea what the main forces look like so u can only speculate as to how it may be, very well might be that humans are really that far behind
its superhero logic so theres nothing you can do about it, "my guy is stronger than yours because hes stronger"
>if they could do thatunfortunately the game has a lot of holes like that lol, its just what it is. in the end ur supposed to look over the lack of exact details on everything because its admittedly just a whole lot more effort than simply saying things because they sound cool. youre meant to look more into the overaching themes and whatnot than think too much about how exactly the combine are so powerful
it always sounds lame to say "oh just dont question the details" but here it applies anyway i think, its able to immerse you despite. u just have to work your own imagination to it and roll with the punches the game throws. hl2 still has a more fleshed out world than 90% of games bother doing so o well
itd suck in its own way anyhow if humanity was too capable, the feel of being in a hopeless resistance wouldnt really be there. you work ur way through the entire game in hl2 just to turn the tide in a single city, and if u think about it thats a bit cooler than the premise of "you go kill bad alien in bad alien world"
ig it all comes down to preference so its your liking if the latter is cooler lol
i think quake does that well, theres doom and its of the same kin but eh quake just does the atmosphere better
>easily able to be wonbut the combine had a secret weapon that made humanity unable to use their resources or whatever
bam superhero logic
>fuck normie game devs forit just takes a lot more time probably lol. if theres a theme u wanna portray then its easier to skip over details and go straight into the premise, and thats what they did in hl2 ig
