well most pictures on twitter haven't been run through any sort of compression and stuff like cameras always prioritize absolute quality over file size optimization so you can reduce their size by like 90% without any noticeable loss in quality. i have a feeling in this case that the images were too big for twitter in the first place and the fansite compressed it themselves because nothing i can do gets the size reduced by more then like 5%
